Digby Supports DofE Partnership Success

Lord Digby Jones lent his support to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) at a workshop hosted by Amey aimed at tackling youth unemployment.

Amey operates an Apprenticeship Academy where young employees are encouraged to undertake the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award as part of their training.

Speaking at the ‘round table’ event, Digby said “The DofE is essential for Britain at a time when it faces the challenges of an economy that will only deliver success if we grow the profits of business and its ability to employ people. Growing an economy comes down to people being skilled and the ability to maximise talent, and if there is one thing the DofE does for young people it allows them to feel they can achieve.

“Young people doing the DofE are surrounded by positivity; they feel good about themselves, they turn up to work on time and they are ahead of the game in the jobs market. Employers want to employ DofE Award holders because they are good for business and so the nation becomes more successful.”
