To my mind the biggest problem we face is a medium-to-long term one that, by its very nature, can always be put off til tomorrow........and that particular day, as we all know, never comes. What is it?

Whether it's business, sport or politics one of the greatest dangers to continued and sustainable success is when those in charge, those who make and implement the big decisions, look at progress being made, results that please and (whilst making the usual management platitudes about "always seeking to improve" or "never settling for second-best") settle down for more of the same; big problem......

Well ........a victory for Ed Miliband's "hard working families"!!! They spoke yesterday, not politicians, and said loudly and clearly just what they wanted: more of the same; this Country had not put up with five years of enormous difficulty and sacrifice to throw it all up at the last. "We have not come this far to fail now" echoed yesterday through Polling Stations across the Land.

I am penning these verbal jewels (I appreciate that is a matter of opinion!) from my balcony on board the Seabourn Odyssey as she slips serenely out of Muscat harbour in Oman into the Arabian Sea before heading through the Straits of Hormuz towards the Persian Gulf and Dubai. The sun is setting over the mountains towards Yemen (!), directly across the sea is Pakistan (!!) and by midnight we shall be some twenty miles from Iran (!!!). ....... and this is a holiday!

Well here we are, deep in the middle of "Campaign-fest"! That five-yearly spectacle worthy of a David Attenborough Special; a display by a rare sub-group of Homo sapiens where a few thousand out of some sixty four million (could be sixty five by now, it just depends on how many trucks have arrived at Dover!) indulge in psephological courtship for a short mating season of just three weeks.
