Lord Digby Jones spoke at the Launch of BT Small Business Week 2009 in London. According to research carried out by BT small businesses at the forefront of technology adoption have been the least impacted by the recession.
Digby said “It was a marvelous opportunity to meet so many small businesses at the launch of the Survey results. I learned a great deal about the issues currently facing SMEs. It is clear to me that the UK will only pull itself out of recession if it trades its way to recovery and the small businesses of the nation will provide the bedrock of employment and growth. I just wish that the Government showed by their actions and not just fine words that they grasp this vital fact”.
He added “optimism is on the rise and equipping firms with the right technology and support will help tip the economy onto the road to recovering in 2010”.
